Run your contest
The admin panel day to day: entries arriving, jury progress, and publishing the results.
Before you start, you need
A contest you own or have been added to as an admin.
Categories and criteria already set up - see Create a contest if you have not got that far yet.
Open the admin panel
Click Manage on the contest page, or the Manage button next to the contest in My Contests. The sidebar is the whole panel:
- Settings - everything about the contest itself
- Categories and Criteria - what people enter and what the jury scores
- Team - your admins and jury
- Submissions - adding entries yourself (private contests only)
- Scoring - how far the jury has got
- Leaderboards - the standings, and publishing them
View contest at the top takes you back to the public page.
The admin panel. Everything you need to run the contest lives in this sidebar. Keep the details current
Under Settings you can change anything you set when you created the contest - extend the deadline, rewrite the rules, swap the banner. Update Contest saves, and changes are live immediately.
Settings holds the banner, all contest details, and the danger zone at the bottom. Watch the entries arrive
In a public contest, entries look after themselves - builders submit and their builds appear in the Submissions tab on the contest page. Switch the grid to By Category to see how each category is filling up, and click any entry to open it full size with its description and comments.
As an admin you can delete any entry, which is your tool for duplicates and rule-breaking builds. You have to type the entry title to confirm.
Entries grouped by category. Admins can open and, if needed, remove any of them. Add an entry on someone’s behalf
The Submissions page in the admin panel is for private contests only. If your contest is public it shows a note explaining that participants submit for themselves.
In a private contest, Add submission lets you enter a build for someone else: pick the builder, upload their photo, fill in the details. This is how invite-only contests and contests where entries arrive by email or through another platform get their entries in.
In a public contest this page just explains itself. Mark the contest private to add entries by hand. Track your jury
The Scoring page is your progress dashboard. At the top, one bar for the whole contest - how many of the possible scores are in. Below it, a row per jury member with their own count and percentage.
This is where you find out that one jury member has scored everything and another has not started, which is worth knowing before you promise a results date.
Scoring progress: overall at the top, then one row per jury member. Look at the standings
The Leaderboards page has four tabs:
- Overall - every entry across all categories, ranked by total score
- By Category - one ranking per category
- By Criterion - who scored best on a single criterion
- Miscellaneous - a collection of bespoke leaderboards added for specific contests. Feel free to use them if they fit your contest's needs!
The overall standings, admin-only until published. Each tab has its own publish button. Publish the results
Every table has a Publish button. Publishing one makes it appear in the Results tab on the public contest page. Publish as many or as few as you like - overall only, or overall plus every category, plus a "Best Presentation" board if that is your thing. Clicking Published again takes a board back down.
Publish controls: the button toggles visibility, the checkbox hides the numbers. Wrap up
When the end date passes the contest flips to Ended by itself - you do not have to close anything. Published results stay up, so the contest page becomes its own archive.
If you really do want it gone, the Danger Zone at the bottom of Settings deletes the contest. You have to type the contest name to confirm, and it takes every entry, score and leaderboard with it. There is no undo.
The danger zone. Typing the contest name is the only thing standing between you and oblivion.
